Cadillac can outdo a fancy Nissan
I literally couldn’t be more surprised we haven’t heard this from Cadillac yet. When you think about it, it’s a no brainer for 4 reasons
Mercedes is going to debut the X-class soon, but won’t be in the US yet
The Colorado/Canyon twins are selling well and were designed to be more suburban and comfortable from the beginning
The Escalade is Cadillac’s flagship and biggest seller, the XT5 is also doing well (where’s the XT3?) and GMC sells tons of Denali trim trucks. Clearly the market is there
If anyone is going to pull off a luxury pickup truck, Cadillac has the best shot.
So what would make it stand out from its siblings besides the obvious chrome, leather and wood? Easy, Chevy’s small block V8. A six cylinder diesel couldn’t hurt either if I’m honest.
EDIT: @opposaurus has made an awesome render
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
If Cadillac can make a great product before Mercedes brings their X-class over (which they will), they won’t be playing catch up like BMW and VAG will inevitably be doing in 7-10 years.

The only issue is Caddy is trying to put some distance between themselves and the whole “just rebadge” thing.
Otherwise, yeah, absolutely bring on the Caddy XP(ickup)1-V.

Are the Canyon and Colorado doing well? All I ever see are new Tacomas, all day everywhere.

They are.

A V8? Maybe, a diesel 6? no chance. The trouble with the
Canyorado
is that it doesn’t NEED another truck in the line. They can’t keep them on the lots as it is. Why invest? Plus there is the issue of competing against the “professional grade” (snicker) Denali trims...though the escalade and the Yukon Denali somehow coexist nicely.

The St. Louis plant is running pretty much 24/7 and still can’t keep up with demand.

That’s kinda my point though, I see tons of Escalades and Denalis. There seems to be enough love to go around.

Just not enough trucks.

0% chance Caddie gets a v8 mid sized truck without Chevy/Gmc also getting a v8

If u can find 2 pictures of a Cadillac and a Canyon that are the same color and same angle I’ll shop them together

A six cylinder diesel, because you want a compact truck that starts at $50k?

Not the exact same color though:

The Escalade has made a huge jump from the last generation, the build/materials/technology are of much higher quality. Yukon Denali’s are nice but not Escalade nice. The crossover between models ends around the Luxury trim level of the Escalade. Premium and Platinum models of Escalade are definitely a step above. I happen to sell both and given the choice, even if price was a factor, I personally think the Escalade is that much better.

People buy the $60k+ diesel X5 and GLE, the GM trucks are technically bigger

The Chevy would probably get the 5.3, the GMC the 5.7 and the Cadillac the 6.2

I wonder if they’d then feel it necessary to give the Caddy it’s own line. Are Escalades made in the same building as Tahoes and Yukons?

I bet they could get away with it simply because it would really have no true competitor in the market initially. That wouldn’t last very long though but the Escalade is more than just a rebadge now, Cadillac has the capabilities.

Nice! I like the name too!

Well, the Slade built in Arlington, Minsk, and Jakarta. So, yes...for the US market at least.

don’t give them ideas

Its perfect. A 5.3 would be nice and understressed in this applciation, and with the right gearing (New gm ten speed??) it could return great fuel numbers. That could even account for the weight of extra sound deadening and extra luxury features that the cadillac model would have.

5.3, 6.0, 6.2 is the vortec motor lineup they would go with (the exact same lineup as GM fullsize trucks).

Ah, I always forget they phased out the 5.7
